How can I become a Christian?
The Scriptures teach us that belief in Jesus Christ and who he is, is our only hope of salvation. That's a wonderful term for getting our lives on track toward building a relationship with God that will bring purpose and meaning to our lives now, and gives us the promise of spending eternity with him in heaven after we die.

Just because you were born in America or have Christian parents doesn't make you "Christian."  A Christian is someone who believes in the Jesus Christ of the Bible, and believing that is going to radically change how you see life.  Jesus calls it being "born-again.

 

Becoming a Christian starts by realizing that you are a sinner, and inspite of that, God loves you and wants a relationship with you so badly, that he was willing to sacrifice his Son, Jesus Christ for you.  By living a sinless life as a man, Jesus paid the price for your sins by dying on the cross. 

 

Here are the first steps to becoming a Christian:

  • Admit you are a sinner in need of a Savior.
  • Believe that the Jesus Christ of the Bible is the Savior.
  • Confess your sins to him.
  • Devote yourself to becoming a Disciple of Christ.
  • Encourage others by telling them you have become a Christian.

Here's an example of a prayer that you can pray:

Jesus, it's clear to me that I am a sinner, and inspite of that, you loved me so much that you died for me and paid the penalty for my sins.  Thank you.  I am also realizing that the sin in my life is what's destroying me and those around me.  I want to stop following these sinful ways in my life and begin to follow you, making you the number one priority in my life.  Please show me and teach me how I can live for you from now on.  Thank you Jesus for all you have done for me.  I look forward to getting to know you!

If this is your prayer, CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME to the family of God.  You have just begun the journey that will lead you to everlasting life.  Please email or call us and let us know you made the decision.  We're not going to hit you up for money or anything like that.  We simply want to know about your decision so we can pray for you and do whatever we can to get you going from this point.

 

Your next step will be to ask God to help you find a Bible believing church that will help you grow in the things of God.  That's really important. You don't have to go to church to be a Christian, but as a Christian, you'll want to be closely connected to one by getting involved.
